IP68 rating covers fresh water under controlled conditions (6 meters for 30 minutes). However, it doesn't protect against hot liquids, saltwater, chlorinated pool water, soaps, or pressurized water. Water resistance also degrades over time from wear, drops, and temperature changes. Additionally, IP68 doesn't cover internal damage from liquid entering through compromised seals or ports.
Many water-damaged devices are recoverable, especially with prompt professional treatment. Success depends on liquid type (fresh vs. saltwater), exposure duration, and how quickly power was disconnected. We provide complimentary diagnostic assessments to determine recoverability and provide honest repair viability estimates. Even if the device isn't recoverable, we may be able to perform data recovery.
Immediately power off the device and do NOT attempt to charge it or turn it back on. Remove from any case and dry the exterior with a soft cloth. Do NOT use heat sources like hair dryers. Bring it to us as soon as possible—ideally within 24-48 hours. The faster we can begin corrosion treatment, the higher the recovery success rate.
